Buried in Purses

I’m sure it sounds like a dream for some of you, but my inventory room is bursting at the seams. We suddenly find ourselves up to our eyeballs in 1930’s-1970’s purses. All shapes and sizes, lots of beads and skins. 15 added to the site last night, more to come next week. Favorite, this late 1950’s Asian bamboo print silk clutch from Japan with little matching lighter.

What kind of drugs was Diane Freis on in the 80's?

If you look at Diane Freis’ current collections, they still feature a lot of her “wearable art” patterns and textures, but the silhousettes are streamlined and quite lovely, and honestly, fairly toned down. While I thought psychedelic substances were primarily a 60’s fad, based on her 80’s designs, one has to wonder if she was using two decades after it was cool. Drugs or no, I’ve never seen a boring Diane Freis design. Check out the three new Freis items in our 80’s clothing category.

New Category Breakdown

We’re growing. In fact, we’re growing so much that we needed to change our categories in order to make the site easier to navigate. We still have clothing, lingerie, shoes & accessories, but now we have decade subcategories. So go check out the killer Alfred Bosand gown that’s coming soon in the 1960’s clothing category.

Back in Business

Well, we were on a major hiatus during our cross-country relocation, but we’re finally back in business. We only have about 20 boxes left to unpack, and frankly, I give up. There’s just too much great inventory hanging around here waiting to be photographed and uploaded to continue worrying about putting away personal goods. Also, I’ve found an excellent dry cleaner who knows how to handle vintage, so all items are now coming to you straight from the cleaners and ready to wear. Expect some amazing additions to the site in the coming month, including dresses from Pierre Cardin, Suzy Perette, Anne Fogarty, Molly Parnis, Pauline Trigere, Emma Domb, and lingerie from Schiaparelli and Tosca (new old stock, no less!). We’re severely backlogged on our inventory, so if you’re looking for something and don’t see it on the site, feel free to send an e-mail. We just might have it even though it’s not listed yet.
